I have never really thrown a fit over people reposting my art on their tumblrs or whatever. Sure, if I saw it around, I reblogged it or asked the OP to kindly add a source, but if they didn’t it wasn’t something to get myself up in bunch. I have never really gotten upset at people editing my art, using it as user pics, LJ icons, printing it out to put it on their walls for their PERSONAL use. But hey, internet is internet, and things get reposted, and sources get lost. I wish it was different, but the reality of it is, that it can happen.
I’m cool with all of the above but I really am not okay with people selling my art on etsy, facebook, bigcartel etc etc. In the past few days couple of instances have been happening where people take my button designs and pictures to put them on things and sell them on etsy. None of you have asked me permission to sell my art and I have given NO permissions to anyone to sell them.
“Oh I didn’t ask because I found it on google/tumblr”
You can’t just take pictures off tumblr/google and just put it on bottle caps or buttons and sell them. THAT IS NOT OKAY.
IT IS NOT OKAY TO SELL art you didn’t create or hire another artist to create for YOU WITH RESALE AGREEMENTS.
