Last night on the classical radio station they were suggesting the word 'gifted' rather than 'talented' because talented is interpreted as 'good but needs improvement' but I feel like 'gifted' sounds like they're naturally as good as they are and ignores all the work they put in to get as good as they are

I don’t personally have a problem with either terms, although I don’t really see a point in them suggesting one word over another haha. To be honest, I don’t think either words have much bearing on the skill of the artist but rather the aptitude or improvements.

The reasons why I don’t have qualms about either terms:

“Talent” for the reasons I stated in that text post already.
“Gifted” because when you receive a gift, you can choose to open (use it) or not.  Talent and gift are both raw things, essentially. If you choose not to do anything with it, then nothing happens.
