Thor snorts and daubs his thick fingers into the paint, clumsy but determined as he begins to coat his brother's skin, "Hush, Loki. This is what brothers do for one another."
A single dark brow quirks upward, the faintest smile upon his lips as he settles himself to indulge his brother's whim.

Thor never says the words ‘I Love You’ to Loki, in any (brotherly, romantic etc etc) context at all and he doesn’t even realize until long after Loki’s death. And the blow of hindsight is crushing.
The deep core of Loki’s self loathing and hatred for himself being a frost giant really comes at the fact that it is one that that clearly separates him from being Thor’s brother. In the end, he could careless if all of Asgard fears/hates him for being a frost giant, but being a non-asgardian means he could never be Thor’s brother, not even in camaraderie.
Loki is the one thing Thor cannot fix, not even in death. And Loki is the only thing that twists Thor and in that moment he forgets that he is a god and a protector
